North Lauderdale is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The
population was 32,264 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by
the U.S. Census Bureau is 34,403.
Geography
North Lauderdale is located at 26°12′57″N, 80°13′28″W (26.215717,
-80.224491). North Lauderdale is in north-central Broward County. It is adjacent

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.1
km˛ (3.9 mi˛). 10.0 km˛ (3.9 mi˛) of it is land and 0.1 km˛ (0.04 mi˛) of it
(0.77%) is water.
Demographics
As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 32,264 people, 10,799 households,
and 7,818 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,210.6/km˛
(8,319.2/mi˛)There were 11,444 housing units at an average density of
1,138.8/km˛ (2,950.8/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city was 50.02% White,
35.16% African American, 0.29% Native American, 3.12% Asian, 0.07% Pacific
Islander, 5.87% from other races, and 5.49% from two or more races. Hispanic or
Latino of any race were 21.13% of the population.
There were 10,799 households out of which 42.4% had children under the age of 18
living with them, 46.8% were married couples living together, 19.3% had a female
householder with no husband present, and 27.6% were non-families. 19.6% of all
households were made up of individuals and 5.5% had someone living alone who was
65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.99 and the average
family size was 3.43.
In the city the population was spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 10.7%
from 18 to 24, 35.2% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 6.9% who were 65
years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there
were 94.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $40,050, and the median income
for a family was $41,990. Males had a median income of $29,188 versus $24,828
for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,557. About 11.5% of
families and 13.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including
16.9% of those under age 18 and 11.0% of those age 65 or over.
